ABC Dimensional (working title)

We are quite frankly not sure yet whether we will end up using pull-out quotes spread throughout the book Ð it's currently unlikely but we might Ð like we did with our last book Made & Sold (http://madeandsold.com). So please consider this when answering the questions but don't be disappointed if we only use the extra information to get a better idea about you and your work. Yes/No answers might be interesting but will most likely never make it into the book or bring any insight in your motivations etc...

In addition to this Q&A and possible pull-out quotes we will definitely feature a brief profile of all individuals/studios and collectives selected for inclusion in ABC Dimensional. That's why we ask everybody who submits work to provide us with a short biography (100 words !!!) and a more comprehensive biography. Please consider that the short biography is intended to be printed in a Contributors Profiles section at the end of the book and those 100 words should therefore really describe you. (Where are you based? Are you illustrator, designer, artist and/or photograoher? Where did you study? Any particular achievement(s) you would like to point out? Do you run your own studio or are you student? Employed maybe? These kind of obvious questions should all be covered in your 100 words. In ONE crisp text.) We can and will obviously help you with this and check all texts and edit and rewrite if necessary but we trust that you are of course the best person to describe yourself rather then us desperately boiling down several 1000 words... 8) Thanks.

(1) Not really a question but here we go: Your SHORT biography in 90 to max. 110 words (as it might be printed in the book's Contributor Profiles section).

(2) Your more COMPREHENSIVE biography (for us to have additional info we can use to add to your project descriptions)

(3) What is it exactly that fascinates you about creating and/or discovering three-dimensional letterforms?

(4) How long have you been fascinated by this subject matter? Please tell us about the first physical 3D letterforms/alphabet by someone else you saw and that inspired you to create/discover your own. Please also tell us about the first ever 3D letters/words/alphabets you created yourself, your own favourite one and your most recent one (please mention also whether or not you submitted this project).

(5) Do you have any suggestions what to write instead of 'ABC Dimensional'?
We also came up with a list of alternative titles that are all still in the race: 3D Type, 3D A-Z, 3D ABC, XYZ3D, 3DXYZ, ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQuestRSTUVWXYZ, The Quest for Letterforms, Alphabet Quest, AlphabetBCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQuestRSTUVWXYZ, Sculptural Typography, 3D Letterforms,   ABCDimensionalEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ, Spatial Typography, A-Z Variations,  ABCDimensionalEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTypographyUVWXYZ, Searching Letters, Finding Letters,  ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSpatialTypographyUVWXYZ, The Shape of Letters, Obsessed with the Alphabet. What do you think would be the most appropriate title? Any more ideas?

(4) Please mention all 3D type artists and designers and/or projects you remember and you think should definitely be included in the book (ideally with website/contact details if possible).

(5) Finally please add any additional information about you and your typographic work that is not covered in the texts above and the project descriptions (that you have to submit separately).
