We received an advance copy today of a forthcoming release by Laurence King Publishing who will republish the best-selling, FL@33-designed book Patterns—New Surface Design by Drusilla Cole as a mini edition this spring (80% of original size). We redesigned the cover to fit the new format and—as so often with book covers—went through a series of colourways and possible finishes before deciding on an elegant and fresh turquoise/gold-foil variant—hoping we can achieve a similar impact with the new cover compared with its original (even more expensive)
yellow, cyan, uv spot with black flock. We will soon add the project in more detail to our online archive here at flat33.com of course but have already posted a quick preview snapshot of untrimmed test proofs with the preview of the final book.

Weeks & Cowling identity and website to a new level this year. Step one: business cards on duplexed stock with white, foil-blocked and debossed logo. The new website version 2 will be tackled next. Here is a little preview of the first round of business cards.

Big progress on our work for our overdue website redesign for flat33.com's v3. We are aiming for a launch sometime in spring and already know that it's going to be great. Everything we have been itching to improve... V3 is going to be easier to update and will maintain our complete archive. All with much larger images of course. It's finally going to be iPhone/iPad friendly, with much larger type etc etc. As I already wrote in December was the current version 2—even with all it's little tweaks over the years—designed at a time, when 15"/800 x 600px screen resolution was still the norm and 17" resolution was pushing it. Our comprehensive v2 has served us truly well for over 8 years but we can honestly not wait for the new website to be launched... 8) Now back to re-shooting selected projects, tagging and categorising over 10 years worth of projects...
