We received our complimentary contributor's copy today of the new book 'I love buttons/chapas' by spanish Monsa Publishing [bi-lingual, english and spanish]. It features on a whopping 25 pages
hundreds of button badges we commissioned for our online boutique Stereohype.com! 'I love badges/chapas' is unfortunately not as thorough and well designed as the brilliant Badge / Button / Pin book by Gavin Lucas/Intercity but 25 pages (12 of them full pages, plus flaps and back cover) is a new record for a showcase book. Pictures will be posted with our forthcoming site update.

The Postcards book we are currently compiling, editing and designing is coming along fine and we will soon be able to show you a few previews. We receive lots of emails these days from individuals and studios who have submitted their card designs for consideration. Please rest assured that we will send notifications to all designers who made it into the book as soon as we have finalised the selection process.

Two visual identities we are currently working on will soon also be finished and pictures will be posted as soon as both sets of stationeries and websites are ready to go.

Oh – and we were invited a few months ago to customise another figure for hong kong-based Toy2r. This time it was a 10" sized Bart Simpson toy – and we were extremely happy to play with one of our favourite television characters. Our Bart figure got a lot of accessories such as one of our
as seen on tv badges, a piece of chalk and a complete list in the other hand with all messages he ever had to write in his after school sessions. The toy was part of a travelling group exhbition across the globe. See pictures at toy2r.com. Again: pictures will soon be posted here.

Thank you all so much for your great postcards and postcard-related projects. Please do keep on sending us your goodies until the new extended deadline! We will already start in the meantime to check every single entry to get the selection process up and running and will also reply to all the emails we received regarding upload confirmations and other questions about this book project.
We have received so many phone calls and emails asking for a bit more time that we decided to extend the deadline to: MONDAY, 16TH JULY! Hope this helps a little. 8)

There are lots of interesting projects in the pipeline we can't even mention yet but we are currently finishing off several website designs, brochures, button badge designs (for forthcoming B.I.O. series 6) and a visual identity... We will soon also add to flat33.com pictures and quicktime previews of another project we recently finished. It's a stop motion animation featuring silhouettes of a vector dandelion we created for altran – 'a global partner in innovation', who are already projecting the final piece onto a huge glass screen in the reception area of their paris-based headquarters. Our press section will soon also be updated with plenty of magazines and design publications FL@33 features in.

In the meantime we would like to draw your attention to a special sale over at our very own graphic art and fashion boutique, stereohype.com, where you can currently get your hands on plenty of reduced FL@33-designed t-shirts, some of them are almost sold out. Sale ends at the end of april!

We have been news editor at French 'N' Fresh for some time now who have today relaunched their website after merging with Nice To Meet You [ntmy.org] where we will continue to post FL@33, Stereohype and other news.

January 27th, 2007
OK – it's finally done! flat33.com got an overall touch-up!
Not only did we add lots of recent projects and press but we also improved the overall design of our website. So much so that we consider it to be a version 2.5! It's the biggest update since we launched flat33.com version 2 back in september 2003. We now have a clear colour code
[<-- see legend at the bottom of the menu] to clearly differenciate between internal links
[example] and external ones [example] which open new browser windows or link to other websites. We also freed flat33.com from the 15" restriction at the bottom – so text can now flow in a way that 30" screen users for example might not even have to scroll at all [before that all texts were cropped at the bottom where 'external link' stands in the menu]. At the end of each caption you will now also find selected links to related projects and/or articles.

Hope you find browsing our site now even more enjoyable!

Apart from improving the design of this very website we added over 200 new pictures plus thumbnails of recent projects and publications – going back to june 2006. New projects include
designs for a customized dalsouple rubber floor, new previews of the forthcoming book patterns – new surface design, new pictues of the recently released FL@33-designed book 300% cotton – more t-shirt graphics and the 300% promo t-shirts – a collaboration between laurence king publishing, FL@33 and stereohype.com.

Also new are pictures of the recently released
B.I.O. (by invitation only) button badge series 5 , flyers and ads for the friends of the earth online shop launch and brandnew postcards for stereohype, FL@33 and the RCA secret fundraising exhibition 2006.

Speaking of exhibitions –'two faced: the changing face of portaiture' opened its doors in hong kong yesterday featuring – besides many other artworks of course – our
antoine+manuel portrait [please see 'exhibitions' section for details]. We also added a few snapshots of the recent scrumptious event and also added plenty of recently published books and magazines featuring FL@33 work and interviews including tres logos, which features four FL@33-designed logos, computer arts project 91 – new masters of digital art, a stereohype/FL@33 feature in german novum magazine, a massive 10-page FL@33 profile in taiwan-based magazine dpi, vol 91, the long-awaited and finally released public address system – poster speeches by typographers and – if you speak chinese or simply enjoy looking at our work you can now finally download a newly added pdf version of the whopping 12-page FL@33 profile published by beijing-based magazine 'new graphic' [08] back in summer 2006. The nice people at computer arts give our recent stereohype button badge design competition and its winners a thumbs-up this month and congratulate them in the current february issue 132. Thanks guys! 8)
