READING ASCII EYE
FL@33 was commissioned by Alsop Architects, London to design an exhibit for the The Ideal City-themed A&M Reading Department (Department Stores of Proper Behaviour) organised by Will Alsop and Bruce McLean.
___ The FL@33 installation presenting Reading ASCII Eye animation (DVD and mini-CD-rom) was built into a confessional within the Reading Department. A mini-CD was was produced in an edition of 40.
___ The animation by FL@33's Tomi Vollauschek is a 40 seconds loop at 25fps (a 2 x 20 seconds loop with a 40 seconds soundtrack to be exact). And yes – we rather time-consumingly produced a whopping 500 or so still frames of ASCII awesomeness using the only software tool available to us at the time – a still image to ASCII text converter...).
